It’s been a long time coming, but we finally finished. Several years ago, Theresa spotted a set of bookcases at IKEA. Here’s the problem: No IKEA in Denver. As-a-mater-of-fact, the closest IKEA to Denver was Salt Lake City, UT, and I refused to pay $500 for shipping. As luck may have it, IKEA Denver opened in 2011. Great! Shipping went from $500 to $49 with same day delivery.
There were several things to finish up before the bookshelf arrived. We need that crappy “popcorn” ceiling scraped and re-textured with knockdown texture, and of course, a new coat of paint on the walls and ceiling.
After the walls and ceiling were taken care of, we noticed the carpet was really showing it’s age. Rightly so, it’s the original carpet installed in 1986. Off to Lowe’s to find some carpet made out of corn. For order to installation in two weeks.
Finally, the room (actually the whole house) is looking really good. Off to IKEA to purchase the bookshelves.
Since I no longer have a Suburban, I have to pay IKEA to deliver the 10 boxes. To my surprise, we’re getting same day delivery. All for $49! In my opinion, that’s a bargain. So I’m pretty happy with the room, but there’s still something missing. It would be really nice to have a nice wood desk to match the bookshelves.
So, two days ago, Theresa and I head out looking for suitable furniture. It didn’t take too long, and delivery as setup for New Year’s Day.
The desk and credenza were delivered at 9:30AM New Year’s Day, and I re-arranged and re-hooked up my computer equipment while the Bronco’s were getting spanked.
It seems like it’s taken forever, but it’s finally done. Seems fitting the new room was finished on New Year’s Day.
